Amazon Kindle 3G

THE E-READER THAT WILL CHANGE THE WORLD

Launching a grey version of a gadget isn't normally a great way of grabbing our attention, but Amazon's Kindle is different. Descending from the great book shop in the cloud to scare your local librarian, this next-gen ebook reader is 20% smaller and 17% lighter than its processor, with faster page turns for people who just can't  put it down. But it's the price that makes it so important. At $189(or $139 for the Wi-Fi only version) an ebook reader is now the cost of a few hardbacks, suggesting the new Kindle could signal an "iPodmoment" for binary books. Not only can you download books to it wirelessly, you can even surf the internet on its 6inch E-Ink screen.
