Apple iPhone 4S in market today

After iPhone 4S announcement, many analysts and technology bloggers got themselves in a lather about a completely new iPhone with a bigger screen. They were disappointed that this year's model looks exactly the same.

It might look the same but the iPhone 4S is significantly faster than its predecessor, with a new camera and - this year's most attention-grabbing feature - a clever voice control service called Siri. In hindsight, this year's upgrade makes sense: it mirrors the 2009 upgrade from iPhone 3G to iPhone 3GS.

The iPhone 4S’ physical design is just the same as the original iPhone 4, but it got an all-new internals which include Apple’s new ARM-based A5 chip which packs a dual-core GPU as well as a dual-core Cortex A9 CPU at 1GHz. Apple says the dual-core GPU on A5 chipset simply means the graphics on iPhone 4S can be up to 7 times faster than the previous iPhone. Of course with the upgraded chipset, the iPhone 4S is expected to utilize more power than the previous iPhone – however, Apple says it has also worked out on the handset’s battery so it can now offer up to 8 hours talk time on 3G, up to 14 hours on 2G (GSM), 6 hours of 3G browsing, 9 hours of Wi-Fi browsing, 10 hours of video playback, 40 hours worth of music, or up to 200 hours standby time. Not bad, huh? The Cupertino tech giant has also made a significant overhaul on the iPhone 4 original antenna, so the iPhone 4S will have one which can intelligently switch between different sets of antennas for even better call quality as well as to avoid dropping of calls. There’s also a higher resolution camera at 3264 x 2448 with an 8MP sensor. Another improvement on the new iPhone 4S is the 3G radio which Apple says can offer up to 14.4Mbps downlink and up to 5.8Mbps uplink. Unlike the iPhone 4 at first launch, the iPhone 4S will be available both in GSM and CDMA flavors.

Rotatable Twin Touch Display Phone

Finally, there’s a rotatable twin touch display mobile phone design. Using this gadget, you can hold the phone the way you like it, it won’t block your views with your fingers while browsing or gaming. This phone has been designed with two touch screens where one is used for viewing and basic operations of a smartphone such as checking mails, browsing, access mobile apps while the other screen is used for typing or gaming. We think the use of the second screen to display difference key controls based on what the user’s need is more practical compared to modular hardware components that Microsoft just patented.

Designer : Abhi Muktheeswarar

You can slide the top panel in different directions: slide up, slide down, or slide both sideways. It is also rotatable for complete freedom of holding your phone. The base touch panel can be configured as portrait or QWERTY keyboard & as a joystick while playing games.

Apple to unveil iPhone 5 during media event on October 4

Recent news about Apple’s next generation iPhone 5 suggests that Apple might unveil iPhone 5 during the media event on October 4 in California. Apple has recently invited media to attend a special event called “Let’s talk iPhone” on Oct 4.

It is expected that Apple might announce the iPhone 5 during the media event alongside a cheaper iPhone model, iPhone 4S.

According to AllThingsD, Apple has chosen the Town Hall Auditorium at Cupertino, California headquarters for the launch of the iPhone 5. Although not much was revealed in the invite, but Mark McKechnie, analyst at ThinkEquity claimed that the event would be used to unveil the Apple’s next generation iPhone, iPhone 5.

As you can see in the image above, the invite included iOS icons such as the calendar (showing a 4th, which is a Tuesday), a clock set at 10am, a Map and a Phone accompanied by the tag line “Let’s talk iPhone”. This triggers to the speculation that during this event where iOS 5 will be launched along with a possible launch of facebook application for the iPad, iPhone 5 is also expected to get announced.

The new iPhone 5 has been rumored to come with upgraded components such as an A5 processor, a higher resolution 8 MP camera, 1GB RAM, an aluminum back, a bigger screen – which will stretch from end to end and a slew of other upgrades.

This will be Apple’s first iPhone event under Apple new CEO Tim Cook, who became the chief last month after Steve Jobs stepped down due to health issues.

Samsung is suing Apple again

I wonder if anybody reads these articles and thinks “Wow, I’m honestly shocked!” anymore. Yes, Samsung is adding even more lawsuits against Apple to its list.
This news comes just ten days after we reported the previous suit. The main goal is to ban Apple from selling iOS devices in the Netherlands, particularly the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad, and iPad 2.

The complaints are regarding the 3G technologies in Apple’s products. Since these are standard in mobile phones throughout the world, I’m curious to find out why Samsung is suing just Apple. Again. Well, it’s probably because Apple is going after Samsung in courts at every turn too.
Here’s what Lee Younghee, head of global marketing for mobile communications at Samsung has to say about it:
We’ll be pursuing our rights for this in a more aggressive way from now on. We’ve been quite respectful and also passive in a way. However, we shouldn’t be … anymore.
That pretty much translates into “It’s time to kick some ass.” An anonymous Samsung executive also said as soon as the iPhone 5 hits market, the company is planning on suing that phone too. Apparently, it would be impossible to sell it without Samsung’s patents.

These two kids just can’t play nice in the sandbox. For most of 2011, the smartphone manufacturers have been arguing back and forth. Apple issued a couple of lawsuits against Samsung toward the beginning of the year. After that, it seems as if Samsung just got fed up and fired a few back. The argument has spread publicly around the world. Germany, United Kingdom, Korea, Japan, Australia, and the Netherlands are all involved.
Seriously, that’s enough.
